Why this blog was created:
Because I like to combine self-propelled backcountry adventures with cooking and feeding my friends...and of course, myself :)
I believe that delicious, healthy food is key to having fun outside, whether you're skiing, climbing, or taking a nap at a gorgeous spot...
To me, good backcountry food meets the following criteria-and I will attempt to ensure that all the recipes that I share meet them.
Good backcounty food is:
- Tasty-so it makes you happy at the end of a long day
- Nutritious-to keep the engines running smoothly
- Quick and easy to assemble, prepare and eat-because in the end, we want to maximize play
- Lightweight-since food is usually a significant amount of weight to carry on self-propelled adventures
- Non-perishable, as much as possible-for both convenience and health reasons
This blog was created for myself and my friends to remember/share recipes that we enjoy together while playing outside-and I hope you find them useful too.
